Julia.......'hippie chick, Janis reincarnated'

J.C.Stephenson lost his battle with cancer in early 2002 - just prior to the release of his band's second album. J.C. may be gone, but he left behind some mighty fine music to be remembered by.
Along with wife Nanette (aka: "Hoot") and a crew of top flight musicians, Lewis Goodrich, Kim Ramsey and Robert Potter - J.C. recorded a rockin' good album that blows you away from the get go, kicking things off with a brilliant cover of The Beatles'"Eleanor Rigby," and closing with Steve Winwood's "Can't Find My Way Home." In between are some excellent originals by Nanette and J.C. songs like "Cookin' Blues," "Medicine Man," and the infectious "Blue Skies & Sliver Clouds."
One thing I wanted to mention is may deep appreciation of the album packaging. A cardboard gatefold, no jewel case, and with the CD held in place by a foam-rubber spindle. The art work, to the interior art by Jeff Gaitner, really adds additional flavor to this most excellent musical feast.
We'll all miss J.C., but somehow I just know he is smiling down on his wife and band, proud of this record, and just happy to have been blessed with such an amazing talent and life.
